Position title

Community Action Agency of Greater Kansas City is a nonprofit organization providing programs and services to low-income residents of Jackson, Platte and Clay counties, Missouri.


Human Resources Director will lead the routine functions of the Human Resources Department, including hiring, interviewing, payroll and benefits administration, performance evaluations, enforcing company policies and procedures, training and development, leading diversity and inclusion initiatives, and managing and improving communication.

Minimum Requirements
  1. Bachelor degree in Human Resources or a related field
  2. Five (5) years of senior-level experience
  3. Five (5) years of experience providing human services
  4. Experience maintaining city, state, and federal compliance
  5. Experience working with the public
  6. Excellent communication and assessment skills
  7. Experience with email, facsimile machine, scanner, and copier
  8. Proficient in alpha-numeric filing, Microsoft Office products: word, excel, and outlook and ability to learn State agency database
  9. Some evenings and weekends are required occasionally
  10. Reliable transportation, valid driver license, and maintain active car insurance

  2. Supervise and redirect department staff
  3. Ensure the organization complies with federal, state, and local employment laws
  4. Coach Supervisors to assist with their understanding of implementing Personnel Policies and Procedures
  5. Maintain and secure all personnel, benefits, and employee, employee-related files
  6. Perform payroll functions for all employees
  7. Conduct recruitment efforts for all positions
  8. Oversee employee relations, new hire orientation, counseling, and exit interviews
  9. Plan and administrator employee benefits including open enrollment and reconciliation of invoices
  10. Develop and implement training programs for employees
  11. Oversee and coordinate human resource software systems
  12. Respond to all employment inquiries
  13. Work with legal representatives as needed
  14. Develop and implement policies and procedures for continued organization improvements
  15. Provide support to supervisors and managers in coaching employees
  16. Maintain and update Personnel Policies and Procedure Manual as needed
  17. Support remote locations as needed
  18. Ability to interact with all levels of management and employees
  19. Be non-judgmental and objective in working with employees, clients, vendors, and community partners
  20. Work effectively and efficiently in a highly stressful situation
  21. Work independently and in a team setting and adhere to deadlines
  22. Represent CAAGKC at special events, meetings, and/or remote locations
  23. Any other duties as assigned
