Our Story

Community Action Agency of Greater Kansas City was incorporated December 14, 1978, formally known as United Services Community Action Agency and United Services of Greater Kansas City Communty Action Agency. These agencies are local private and public non-proft organizations that carry out the Community Action Program which was founded by the 1964 Economic Opportunity Act to fight poverty by empowering the poor as part of the War on Poverty.

Rev. James D. Tindall, Rev. Samuel E. Mann, and Rev. Howard Gloyd were instrumental in incorporating Community Action Agency of Greater Kansas City. It is chartered by the State of Missouri as a private, non-profit corporation, serving counties of  Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties, Missouri.

In January 2017 our name was changed to Community Action Agency of Greater Kansas City (CAAGKC), it allows us to incorporate the Community Action Partnership name recognition into our business and service model.
